Rockefeller Center

Rockefeller Center probably the most decorated and entertaining building in all of New York City. Art is all over Rockefeller Plaza. If you walk into the main lobby you will find a mural painted on the walls and on the ceiling. If you walk around Rockefeller Plaza you will notice tons of other things as well. Inside of the Rockefeller Center you can buy a ticket for the NBC Tour. NBC Studios main headquarters are in Rockefeller Center. Shows like The Nightly News with Brian Willliams and Saturday Night Live are all filmed here. Up Early? If you are, go right across the street and see where they film the Today Show. The Rockefeller Center also offers an observation deck called "The Top of the Rock" on the 67th-70th floors. The 70th floor is the best since there are no windows for protection blocking your view of the architecture of Manhattan. I recommend going to the "Top of the Rock" at night to see the city come alive with all the lights and noise.

The World Trade Center

Personally my favorite two buildings of all time, the World Trade Center Twin Towers towered over Manhattan for 28 years. The North Tower (Antenna) was completed on December 23rd, 1970. The South Tower was completed on July 19th, 1971. Ever since their opening on April 4th, 1973, the towers gained an immense amount of popularity. The North Tower even had a restaurant called "Windows on the World" on the 106th and 107th floors. The restaurant spun around a full 360 degrees so you could see all of Manhattan.  Even though the buildings are supossed to be the same height, the North Tower (1,368 ft) is 6 ft taller than the South Tower (1,362 ft). Ever since the collapse of the buildings on September 11th, 2001, construction of a new tower has begun. The Freedom Tower is now going to take the new role of being the biggest building in Manhattan. It has already surpassed the height of the Empire State Building and is still under construction. The Freedom Tower will be completed in late 2013.

The Empire State Building

One of the most famous buildings in the world, the Empire State Building, has towered over Manhattan for over 81 years. It was built in 1931 and has become a national landmark in the United States. It was built in 2 years during the Great Depression. The building developed jobs and people made money. This was the best time for building a skyscraper since everyone jumped on the opportunity to build the skyscraper. It's unusual shape makes it an easy thing to spot for tourists. At night on top of the building, the lights will glow red, white, and blue. The Empire State Building will always be a hotspot for tourists and locals alike.

What this blog is about.

Hello I'm Logan Foster. One of my favorite things to see is interesting architecture. Architecture can show what type of personality the architect who built it had. Every building in the world is unique in its own way. This blog is meant to show pictures along with descriptions of the "New" and "Old" architecture in the world.
